Live-in/ out Head Butler in Wiltshire

Our UHNW private clients are seeking an experienced live-in or live-out Head Butler for their large established shooting estate based near Andover, Wiltshire. This is a fully staffed household supporting two principals and a wider estate team. The role is seasonal in nature, with a busy autumn and winter shooting period and a quieter spring/summer phase. The successful candidate must be highly flexible, calm under pressure, and confident leading front-of-house service at the highest standard.

Working schedule:
February – September (reduced season): Monday – Friday, approximately 09:00 – 15:30

October – January (busy shooting season): very flexible hours including long and varied days depending on estate activity and guest stays 

The clients work on a yearly average hours system, further details will be shared at interview stage but flexibility in the peak season is paramount for the success of this role.

Duties will include:

• All traditional Butler and front-of-house service duties


• Supervision of under butler / service team


• Formal table settings and service for meals


• Wine service and confident wine knowledge with ability to make suggestions


• Managing inventories and household presentation standards


• Coordinating service during shooting periods


• Supporting peak guest periods with additional staff supervision (up to 6 extra temporary Butlers)


• Occasional crossover support with London property when required


• Ensuring smooth daily running of the household front-of-house operations

Requirements:

• Experienced Butler with strong private estate or luxury hospitality background


• Confident English speaker


• Strong organisational and leadership skills


• String knowledge of wine


• Driver with own car (essential)


• Calm, discreet and highly professional demeanour

Start date:
ASAP / flexible depending on candidate

Accommodation: Off-site, private property (partners, dependents and pets welcome, bills not included)

Salary: £70,000 – £80,000 per annum DOE (plus private healthcare package, annual salary review and generous annual bonus)
