Our private clients are seeking a Live-in Cook / Travelling Family Assistant to support their busy family of six, including four children aged between 8 and 13 years old, based in Kensington close to Earl's Court. The household also employs multiple after-school tutors and a daily morning cleaner who undertakes the majority of the deep cleaning duties. This is a varied, hands-on role combining family cooking, household support, childcare assistance and travel. The successful candidate will be a flexible all-rounder with a positive, can-do attitude and a genuine enjoyment of family life.
Schedule: Wednesday & Thursday 3:00pm – 8:00pm
Duties will include school pick-ups, preparing the family evening meal (healthy, balanced family-style cooking), assisting with the children where required, packing school bags for the following day, light housekeeping and tidying, food ordering and occasional babysitting.
Friday – Sunday (Cotswolds residence)
The Family Assistant will travel to the family's Cotswolds home on Friday afternoon using their own vehicle to receive and unpack grocery deliveries and prepare the family dinner prior to the family's arrival.
Saturday 8:30am – 2:00pm and 4:30pm – 8:00pm
Sunday 8:30am – 5:00pm
The family typically returns to London on Sunday evening.
Duties during weekends in the Cotswolds will include cooking, laundry, housekeeping, assisting with the children and providing general household support as required.
Monday & Tuesday Days off
During most school holidays, the Family Assistant will be expected to travel with the family within Europe. Duties will be similar to those undertaken during weekends in the Cotswolds and may include supporting the family during Easter (2–3 weeks), one week during May half-term, most of July and approximately two weeks in October.
Please note that Bank Holiday Mondays will often be working days due to extended weekends in the Cotswolds. Annual leave entitlement is 28 days per annum, excluding bank holidays.
The family also have a large pet dog. Whilst a dog walker is employed, it is essential that the successful candidate is a genuine dog lover and comfortable around dogs. During periods of European travel, the Family Assistant may be required to assist with transporting the dog to the family's destination by car, train or plane (with support from a driver where required).
The family also spend time aboard their boat during the summer months and would like the successful candidate to be a confident swimmer for safety reasons.
The ideal candidate will be –
A highly capable Cook/ confident and capable all-rounder with previous experience in private households. They will be flexible, proactive and happy to travel extensively with the family. Fluent English is essential and additional Mandarin or Spanish language skills would be a bonus. Being a driver with own car in order to get to and from the Cotswolds is a must.
Working hours:
Approximately 40 hours per week across 5 days during term time and approximately 48 hours per week across 6 days during school holidays. Flexibility on hours during periods of travel is essential to the success of this position.

Salary:
£50,000 gross per annum, plus an additional £300 per week travel allowance during weeks spent travelling with the family and approximately 4 additional weeks of annual leave throughout the yeat (on top of 28 days statutory) when the family travel alone
Unless otherwise specified a minimum of 3 years relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay
