Rota Governess in Chigwell

On behalf of our private client, we are seeking a highly experienced and qualified Rota Governess for a warm, welcoming family in Chigwell with two childrens aged 5 and 6. This is a long-term, career-focused position for someone who is genuinely passionate about children's education and development, and who is ready to become an important part of the girls' lives. The family are looking for someone with high standards, a firm but fair approach, and a real enthusiasm for encouraging the children to grow academically, socially and personally.

Rota / working hours:

• 2–3 weeks on / 2–3 weeks off


• Flexibility required during school holidays, when rotations may be adjusted to fit the family's travel and schedule

Duties include:

• Taking the lead on the children's educational development and daily routine


• Supporting school learning, reinforcing classroom topics and assisting with homework


• Planning and delivering engaging educational activities that encourage curiosity and a love of learning


• Acting as a positive role model — encouraging excellent manners, kindness, confidence and respect


• Supporting and encouraging the girls' music — they play piano and violin


• Accompanying the children to extracurricular activities and outings


• Liaising with the family and school as required


• Carrying out any additional duties as reasonably requested

The successful candidate will:

• Be a native or fluent English speaker, having second language in romanian group is a hug advantage


• Hold a qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent is essential


• Have a thorough knowledge of the UK curriculum


• Have previous experience as a governess or working in a private household (preferred)


• Have high expectations of behaviour, manners and kindness


• Have a firm but fair approach to childcare and education


• Have an interest in sport and music is highly desirable


• Be professional, engaging, organised and adaptable


• Be committed to a long-term position


• Be available to start as soon as possible

Salary: £65– £75k gross per annum

Unless otherwise specified, a minimum of 2 years' relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay.
