- Description
On behalf of our private client, we are looking for a warm, experienced, and well-rounded domestic couple to join a private family estate in Kent. The ideal candidates work well both as a team and independently, bringing versatility, enthusiasm, and excellent references. This is a wonderful opportunity for a couple seeking a long-term role with appreciative employers.
The Head Gardener role will suit an experienced and passionate gardener who is ready to take over the running of beautifully maintained gardens on the estate. You will be working alongside the current Head Gardener, who is looking to slow down and retire, making this an excellent opportunity to step into a senior position.
The Residential Carer and Companion role involves supporting a young adult male (24) with mild disabilities in both his working life and leisure time. We are looking for an energetic, fun, and caring individual with a relaxed yet professional approach.
Days of work: 5 days per week working Monday to Friday. Flexibility may be required to work some weekends.
Hours: To be confirmed – ideally start time would be 7:30am
Head Gardener responsibilities and duties:
- Managing and maintaining all areas of the estate gardens
- Trees, hedges, lawns, and an azalea garden
- Water features, swimming pool, and tennis court
- Terraces and kitchen garden
- Working collaboratively with the outgoing Head Gardener during the handover period
- Overseeing and working with any additional garden staff or contractors
The Residential Carer and Companion responsibilities and duties:
- Daily diary management and scheduling
- Accompanying the young man to appointments and social activities
- Organising travel
- A weekly trip to London (this is not a must)
- Daily cooking and cleaning within the five-bedroom home, which is located within the family estate
- Residing with the young man three nights per week during the working week (both of you or just one of you)
- Encouraging a fulfilling and active lifestyle, including trips to the gym and cultural and social outings
- Providing genuine companionship – the young man has a wide range of interests including music, film, history, reading, comedy, football, and Formula 1
- Driving, light caretaking, and practical day-to-day support
- A caring and empathetic approach is essential, with the ability to enhance his quality of life while maintaining and supporting his independence.
Salary: £75,000 – £85,000 gross per year (combined)
Accommodation: A self-contained two-bedroom cottage on the property is included, providing comfortable private accommodation.
Start date: 1st September 2026
Please note:
- This role is not suitable for those with young dependants.
- A pet may be welcome, and dog lovers would be ideal.
- Additional information can be provided at point of registration interview.
Candidate requirements:
- Both candidates must hold a full UK driving licence.
Unless otherwise specified, a minimum of two years' relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay.
