- Description
- On behalf of our returning UHNW client, we are seeking an experienced and dedicated Couple to join the household team at a beautiful private country estate near Newbury, Berkshire. This is a live-in position requiring flexibility, discretion, and a proactive approach.
The Couple will report to the Family PAs and work closely with a Chef and a wider team of gardeners and housekeepers. There will also be regular travel to the client's West London residence to support the London team & occasional travel abroad. Flexibility is essential, with working hours adapted to meet the needs of the family.
The existing team are hardworking, supportive and fun — this position is ideal for a couple who are team players with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Working Hours: 5 days a week Monday-Sunday on shifts & rota
Butler: split shift 6:30-4pm or 11:30-21:30 with breaks in the day. Rotas are sent out in advance. Housekeeper: 08:00 – 16:00 or a split shift so the housekeeper returns for 30-40 minutes in the evening to help with turndown.
Butler Duties
- Preparation of the property ahead of the Principal’s arrival.
- Providing formal and informal food and beverage service.
- Driving the Principal and guests as required.
- Wardrobe management, including organisation, care, packing and unpacking.
- Liaising with household staff to ensure seamless household operations.
- Guest care and hospitality.
- Maintaining high standards of presentation throughout the residence.
- Assisting with travel preparations and logistics.
- Accompanying the Principal on overseas travel when required (up to 3 months per year)
- Supporting the wider estate team as necessary.
Housekeeper Duties
- Daily housekeeping and presentation of the residence to exceptional standards
- Cleaning and caring for fine furnishings, antiques and delicate surfaces
- Working with precious and specialist materials using appropriate cleaning methods
- Laundry care, including washing, ironing, pressing and garment care
- Bed making and linen management
- Wardrobe organisation and clothing care
- Assisting with seasonal deep cleaning
- Maintaining housekeeping supplies and storage areas
- Occasional childcare for the family's 13-year-old son until September, including preparing easy meals
- Occasional travel to the family's other properties in Europe (up to 3 months per year)
Candidate Requirements
Butler:
- Previous Butler experience within private households or private estates is essential.
- Excellent attention to detail and presentation standards.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Full clean driving licence and confident driving ability essential.
- Professional, discreet and trustworthy manner.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible approach to working hours and duties.
- Experience caring for luxury clothing and wardrobes desirable.
- Eligibility to travel internationally
- Previous experience working at events desirable
- Shooting license desirable
Housekeeper:
- Previous experience within a private household, luxury residence, estate or five-star hospitality environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
- Strong laundry and linen care skills.
- Experience working with delicate, valuable and specialist materials.
- Positive and collaborative approach to working within a team.
- Discreet, trustworthy and professional manner.
- Ability to work efficiently and proactively.
- Flexible approach to working hours and duties.
- Driving license required
Salary: £75-80k gross
Accommodation:
- Self-contained, generously sized one-bedroom private accommodation on the estate. Unfortunately, dependants & pets can not be accommodated
Start Date: ASAP
