Live-out Tutor/Governess or Governor in Chelsea

A private Chelsea family seeks an exceptional Tutor & Governor/Governess or Governor to oversee the academic education, personal development, and character formation of their four children (aged approx. 7–12).

This is a holistic role combining private tuition, behaviour guidance, and mentorship with full time working hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Academic Support: One-to-one and group tutoring; homework supervision; curriculum reinforcement; extension for stronger students; exam preparation (7+, 8+, 11+, Common Entrance).


• Individual Development: Build trusting relationships; adapt to each child's learning style; encourage resilience, independence, and intellectual curiosity.


• Behaviour & Character: Set consistent boundaries; promote manners, respect, emotional regulation, and personal responsibility using positive reinforcement.


• Sibling Dynamics: Foster cooperation, fairness, and harmonious relationships between the children.


• Organisation: Establish study routines; monitor progress; maintain records; liaise with parents and schools.

Essential Requirements

• University degree + teaching qualification or substantial private tutoring experience.


• Extensive experience with children aged 7–12, including multiple children at different stages.


• Strong knowledge of the UK education system (independent sector experience advantageous).


• Demonstrable behaviour management skills.


• Natural role model with impeccable professionalism.

Desirable

• 11+ / Common Entrance preparation experience.


• Knowledge of London independent schools.


• Child-development or educational psychology background.


• Flexibility to travel during holidays if required.

Salary: from £75K+ negotiable

Unless otherwise specified a minimum of 2 years relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay.
