On behalf of our private client, we are seeking a reliable, hardworking, and well-presented Housekeeper for a beautiful private 6 bedroom property in Coldstream, Berwickshire. This is a flexible role that combines thorough housekeeping with light serving and waitressing during family meals and when guests are entertained.
The family visit the property approximately once or twice a month, typically staying for up to a week at a time. When the family are in residence, full-time hours are required including some evenings and weekends. When the property is unoccupied, the role moves to an ad hoc basis - attending as needed and agreed in advance to keep the home well-maintained and ready for arrival.
Working hours / schedule:
- When family is in residence: Monday to Saturday, 8:00am – 8:00pm
- When family is not in residence: ad hoc, flexible hours as agreed
- Family visits approximately once or twice a month, typically for up to one week
Duties include:
- Thorough cleaning throughout the property including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and tidying
- Laundry, ironing, and linen management
- Preparing the property to an impeccable standard ahead of the family's arrival
- Assisting with meal preparation and kitchen clean-up
- Serving meals and beverages in a professional and courteous manner
- Providing waitressing support during family meals and small gatherings
- Setting and clearing the dining table to a high presentation standard
- Managing household supplies and flagging when replenishment is needed
- Carrying out any additional duties as reasonably requested by the family
The ideal candidate will be:
- Experienced in housekeeping, ideally within a private household setting
- Comfortable with light serving and waitressing — a hospitality background is a plus
- Detail-oriented with consistently high standards of cleanliness and presentation
- Polite, discreet, and professional at all times
- Self-motivated and confident working independently
- Flexible and dependable, including availability for some evenings and weekends
Salary: £25-30 per hour (competitive, depending on experience)
Start date: 1st June 2026 (earlier start available if required)
Unless otherwise specified, a minimum of 2 years' relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay.
