On behalf of our returning private client, we are seeking an experienced and highly professional Housekeeper to join a well-established household team at a prestigious private residence in Regent’s Park, London.
Working as part of a small, close-knit team under the direction of the House Manager and Senior Housemaid, you will play a central role in maintaining an impeccable standard of housekeeping throughout the residence.
This is a varied and hands-on role requiring someone who takes genuine pride in their work, has a meticulous eye for detail, and is committed to delivering the highest possible standards of service to the principal, their family and guests.
Working Days: 5 days per week including weekends on rota -flexibility required
Hours: 9-hour shifts across 6:00am–9/10:00pm depending on events
Duties Include:
Daily Housekeeping & Standards:
- Maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and presentation throughout all areas of the residence, including the principal apartment, guestrooms, offices, basement areas, plant rooms, staircases and all common areas (corridors, changing rooms, etc.)
- Constantly monitoring the principal apartment, guestrooms and common areas — replenishing fruit bowls, drink trays, waste bins and toiletries; replacing used towels; changing bed linens as required; topping up stationery; watering plants; checking TVs and clocks; polishing shoes
- Cleaning, dusting, polishing, vacuuming and carrying out floor maintenance and window cleaning to an impeccable standard
- Cleaning and polishing silver and brass as required
- Making minor repairs, sewing on buttons and carrying out simple alterations to clothing and linens
- Maintaining closets, laundry rooms, linen cupboards, service cupboards and housekeeping stores in good order, with supplies arranged tidily and logically
- Caring for the Principal’s clothing, handbags and accessories, and those of lady guests
- Assisting with packing and unpacking for the principal and houseguests
- Receiving guests on arrival on the upper floors and ensuring they feel welcome
- Arranging and caring for flowers throughout the residence
- Assisting in maintaining the general cleanliness and condition of staff quarters
- Ensuring lighting levels are appropriate and attending to drapes and blinds throughout the residence
- Reporting any maintenance issues or incidents to the Senior Housemaid or House Manager as appropriate
- Running errands as required
Events & Functions:
- Attending to VIP event guests who use upper-floor facilities
- Assisting at functions and events hosted at the residence, including cloakroom duties, serving, washing up and any other tasks as required
- Arranging the delivery of clothing to the laundry, dry-cleaners or specialist providers as required
- Supporting the Senior Housekeeper and another Housekeeper during busy periods or in their absence
Household Supplies:
- Monitoring stock levels and advising the Senior Housekeeper when housekeeping, household or stationery supplies are running low
- Making local purchases of stocks and supplies when requested
- Assisting in checking the condition and quantity of linens, towels, blankets and cloths, and reporting to the Senior Housemaid accordingly
- Assisting with periodic stock-takes of all housekeeping and household supplies
- Maintaining awareness of costs and waste at all times
General Household:
- Deputising for the Senior Housekeeper when required, ensuring the highest possible standards are maintained for the principal, their family and guests
- Liaising with the House Manager, Senior Housekeeper and wider household team to coordinate daily service requirements
- Adhering to all Health & Safety requirements and reporting any accidents or incidents appropriately
- Assisting at other properties when required
- Assisting other household departments when workload allows
- Carrying out any additional duties as reasonably requested by the principal
Key skills required:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a quality housekeeping environment, ideally within a formal private household
- A sound knowledge of the care of top-quality linens, furniture, upholstery, clothing and accessories
- Good knowledge of housekeeping materials, products and equipment and their correct usage
- A meticulous eye for detail and impeccable personal presentation
- Good written and spoken English and the ability to communicate effectively with the household team and principal
- A calm, composed and professional manner with the ability to work effectively within a team
- Complete discretion and a genuine commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service
- You must be dog friendly
Salary: £45–50k gross per year DOE
To start: ASAP
Unless otherwise specified a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience is required to receive the advertised rate of pay.
