Our private clients are seeking an experienced Housekeeper to join their household team supporting their London residence in Marylebone, together with other London properties and travel throughout the year.
The principals are primarily based in Athens and use their Marylebone apartment as a second residence for approximately 3-4 months of the year. The household also employs Nannies and a second Housekeeper. Whilst the apartment is a 3-bedroom property, it becomes a busy and well-lived-in family home when occupied, therefore the successful candidate must be comfortable working around family life and possess the emotional intelligence to know when to be visible and when to step back.
This role operates in distinct seasons. During periods when the family are not in residence, the workload is significantly lighter and focused on maintaining the property, preparing for future stays and supporting other family residences. When the family are in residence, flexibility is essential and the role becomes much more hands-on, supporting the smooth running of the household and ensuring maximum comfort for the principals.
Working days & hours:
The role operates on a seasonal basis depending on family occupancy.
During periods when the family are not in residence, the schedule will typically be Monday – Friday, 30 hours per week, focused on maintaining the residence to impeccable standards and assisting at other family properties when required.
During periods when the family are in residence (approximately 3-4 months of the year), the schedule will typically increase to 6 days per week, approximately 10 hours per day, with flexibility required depending on the family's needs and travel schedule.
The salary is based on an average working week of 40 hours across the year, with any additional hours worked during busy periods returned as time off in lieu during quieter periods.
Duties will include –
o Full housekeeping and cleaning to exceptionally high standards
o Laundry and wardrobe care
o Working alongside a second Housekeeper to maintain the residence
o Taking responsibility for the overall presentation and upkeep of the property
o Acting as the eyes and ears of the household and reporting any maintenance issues or concerns
o Assisting with the preparation of residences ahead of family arrivals
o Supporting other London residences when required
o Travelling with the family and taking full responsibility for housekeeping within holiday properties
o Working flexibly around the family's schedule and requirements
o Maintaining a calm, organised and welcoming home environment
The ideal candidate will be –
An experienced Housekeeper with previous HNW/UHNW household experience and excellent housekeeping standards. They will be highly discreet, emotionally intelligent and able to read the room, adapting their approach to suit the family's needs. Candidates must be child-friendly and comfortable working around family life, although no childcare duties are required.
The successful candidate will be proactive, flexible and happy to travel internationally when required. They must work well within a team and be able to build a positive working relationship with the second Housekeeper and wider household staff.
