- Description
On behalf of our private client, we are looking for a domestic couple to look after a private household near Basingstoke. The ideal candidates will be warm, discreet, practical and experienced couple who are confident working in a private country household and take pride in their part in a happy, efficient and beautiful home environment.
Candidates must be confident drivers, speak good English, be comfortable around horses, and be happy living in a rural environment. A flexible, proactive and hands-on attitude as part of the team is essential.
Working Schedule
5 days per week, currently Thursday and Sunday off. Hours are 9:00am–12:30pm and 2:00pm–5:30pm, totalling 35 hours per week per person. Some flexibility will be appreciated for occasional dinner parties, with time off in lieu by arrangement. As a live-in role, a key requirement is also to be generally present at the property when the family is away, principally to look after the two dogs and keep an eye on the four horses.
Main duties are:
- General housekeeping, laundry, ironing, kitchen tidying and household support.
- Light family cooking would be appreciated, along with occasional help for dinner parties.
- Both candidates must be confident drivers, as the property is in a rural location.
- Duties to include local errands, collections and occasional lifts.
- Gardening, mowing, hedge cutting, greenhouse and kitchen garden care, watering plants and trees, compost management
- Tennis court and swimming pool upkeep
- Car washing and general outdoor tidiness.
- Care and support with dogs, chickens, ducks and horses.
- Horse duties to include bringing horses in and out, cleaning water troughs and keeping the yard and stables tidy
Accommodation
- Separate non-smoking accommodation and small garden provided next to the main house, arranged over two floors with two bathrooms.
Salary / Package
- £1,700 net per person per month, equalling £3,400 net per couple per month, plus tax/PAYE on top. Final payroll details to be confirmed.
- Exclusive use of a small manual car for personal and general purposes.
